Interval
training is a bold and dynamic way to condition racing horses. It is not the
most commonly used method of training, because it isn't quick, and it is not
easy.
If you want to build a powerful athlete, one that will last through many seasons
and be able to go on to a career following the track, IT is the way to go.
Conditioning with a base of long slow distance, followed by controlled works
to build speed is a long process--not for the faint of heart. However, the
return is nothing you have experienced or can imagine. Your horse will be
a physical specimen that will turn heads wherever it goes, and whose strength
extends to its mind and heart. Interval trained horses do not know the meaning
of stop or quit.
Racing on the track is by no means the sole application of IT. If you have
an interest in building a strong contender in any discipline that requires
speed as well as endurance, this program is easily tailored toward that end.
If speed isnt necessary, then the distance base--upon which the speed
is built--will be all that's required.
